Bridal Thoughts Words are amusing. Heck, a writer has to feel that way! But ever wonder why a it is called a 'bridal dress' a 'bridal shower' etc.? I mean beyond the obvious reference to the word bride... Could it be, in fact, a spelling error? Perhaps the word 'bride' itself derives from 'bridle.' bri·dle Hey, I didn't even make up the money reference! See how related these terms are? What is one of the most common complaints a man makes about his 'bride' other than her spending of the family fortune?! Instead of leather placed about the horse's head, women are controlled by the binds of marriage. Constrained by the rules, the regulations. What may even be worse is that we are told it is out idea. La Wry is here to tell you that she is not one so willing to take that metal bit in her mouth and be subject to carrying the weight of any man, just because it works best for him. In fact, if I continue this imagery along, I can honestly say I would prefer to live in a herd. With many women. Just one man who has proven himself worthy byt protecting us all. Once he is bested, he is removed, and a nice handsome, better suitor replaces him. As long as I can keep doing what it is I love to do - running wild with the wind in my hair, pawing at the earth, rolling in the grass, drinking from the cool water - sure, I'll pop out a foal now & then to keep the old man happy. Perhaps, like the dwindling population of true wild mustangs, real women are a thing of the past... White dress, leather & metal about your head, what's the difference? Control is control. Only women think they 'need' this. Mustangs know they do not. Mustangs fight the notion. Women are taught to believe this is wonderful. But it really just serves the beasts that ride us, that make us serve them. Perhaps men know this. Perhaps those old cowboy stories, the western novels men read are really about men's desire to tame women... Give her a sugar cube (a white rock), whisper in her ear, give her a smaller space, and then she will carry you the rest of her life. Men, get off my back! La Wry is here to say 'buck the system.' |
